Good full protective coverage, i use them in my work (carpentry) we build wooden sheds and i need to climb on top of the work and just kneepads don't do the trick fully, i used to hurt my shins often in my work and have quite scared shins after decades of self abuse. Now i don't have to be as careful and can dive right on my knees onto to the construction platform.
