Good Entry-Level BMX Cruiser with Upgrade Potential

I bought the GT Mach One Pro Cruiser as a budget-friendly bike to ride with my son. Previously I used to borrow a bike from the club, but I wanted my own that I could maintain and look after.

Overall, it’s a great beginner bike. The quality is quite basic, which is expected at this price point. As mentioned in the bike’s description, the best part of it is definitely the frame. It’s solid and gives a good foundation if you plan to upgrade parts later.

Because of the entry-level components, I had to replace a few things fairly quickly. After a small crash, the brake lever bent badly. The metal is quite soft, so it didn’t take much to damage it. The grips also wore out relatively fast.

The biggest investment was replacing the bottom bracket, which unfortunately wore out after about a year. That said, I did ride the bike in the London Winter Series BMX, so the wet weather and muddy tracks definitely didn’t help the bottom bracket’s lifespan.

Other than that, many of the original parts have held up well. The pedals, the nice-looking tyres, and the freewheel are still in good condition.

If you ride it gently, such as cruising in the park, doing light sessions on pump tracks, or occasional training, this bike is perfect. And if you manage to get it at a discounted price, it’s definitely worth it.
